Day after Christmas cards

I have three cards to share today.
The first is the weekly image fromDesigned to Delight. It is called Whimsical Cardinals. Today I had six or seven male cardinals at my feeders and their red was so vivid against the snow I was motivated to make this card with just black, white and red.
The next two cards were made with my new Spinner that my daughter gave me for Christmas. This toy reminds me of the 60s! My son and I made about 10 backgrounds last night so I made several of them into cards. The kindness image is from TLC Creations and the Kokopelli is a stamp from I Brake for Stamps.
I would like to thank my family and friends for giving me such great memories this Christmas.

Let's Party

My son's friend is having his 40th birthday this week, so I made a card to celebrate this momentous event. This is a stamp from I Brake for Stamps and is one of my favorites.

Snowman Love

Here is the image from this week from Designed 2 Delight. I first saw this Maxine sentiment years ago and have laughed ever since. Oh, how true this can be!! LOL
This great little snowman can be used right up until Valentine's Day.

Winter Bear

I love this image from Designed 2 Delight. It can be used as a Christmas image or a winter image. Since I have my Christmas cards done I will probably make several more to use for a few of my winter swaps. The background was done using wrapping paper.

This week's freebie from Designed to Delight is this pretty poinsettia. I have been working diligently on my Christmas cards so this is a great one to add to my collection.

Christmas Cocoa

I made two cards with this week's image from Designed to Delight. I am taking an online Copics class so I used this very versatile image to practice my shading. I have quite a few copics but not many 3 color families so I used turquoise for one and orange for the other. I now have two more Christmas cards to add to my growing stash.

Recycled Christmas cards

Every year I get a lot of Christmas cards from my friends and family. Although most are store bought they have lovely images and sentiments on them. I have saved them for the past couple of years and decided to recycle them this year. I have made 18 so far today and just wanted to share some of them. I am very happy with the way they have turned out. The last two cards are made from just one larger card.

Two Digi Challenges

My first card is for a challenge over at Squigglefly. The challenge is to use only a Squigglefly digi sentiment. The background is done using the TJ Scrunchie technique (one of my all time favorites!). It is rather plain, but I generally prefer that for Smpathy cards.

The next card is for a challenge at one of my most favorite blogs Create with TLC. Paulette offers all kinds of freebies and a lot of images for which you can name your own price. Now how cool is that?? For this challenge we chose an image and sentiment from the name your own price section. I love the vintage lady and camera, and I always love sentiments about smiling. The beads on the card are some I bought today at a local bead store.

Little Angel card

I made this Christmas card last night. The cute image is from Designed 2 Delight. I know a lot of ladies like the images of the little girls with no mouths, but they drive me a little crazy. I added a big smiley cause that is the way I feel! Thanks again, Faith, for your weekly images!!

Harvest Basket card

It was a very busy week for me and I am starting another today, but I did have time to make a card yesterday using this free digi from Designed to Delight. Faith added a couple of sentiments for those of us who played last week.

The Earth Laughs in Flowers

I love this image from Designed 2 Delight. It is call Willow Whimsy, but the sentiment is the special part of the card. The earth at my house is laughing purple irises right now. Quite a treat to go with the gorgeous fall weather we are having.

World Cardmaking Day two days late!

My friend, Barbara, is here visiting this week and we did what we should to celebrate the day. We made cards all day! Here are a couple of our cards. The first is an image from Squigglefly and is one of my all time favorites. I used the Polished Stone tech with an image from Hero Arts on the second. Barbara used a retired SU image on her first. I love the little image from Sarah Kay she used on the second. She has a real talent for finishing off her cards with punches, flowers and pearls.

Sympathy card

This week's challenge over at Designed 2 Delight uses shamrock blooms. I have shamrocks all over my house and outside so they are one of my favorites. The sentiment is perfect for a sympathy card. I made the background using the Fossil Stone technique, the punch is from Martha Stewart and everything else is Stampin Up.

Glowing Oil Pastels

This is for Try that technique Thursday challenge over at TJ. I almost always start with an image and then build the card around it. The oil pastels on the butterfly blend easily and give a nice "glow" to the image. Thank goodness for techniques that allow us t0 instantly have a colored background that exactly matches the image. In this case I used Fossil Stone, which for now is my new favorite technique.

Happy Couple

I talked to a friend I have known since high school today and she told me she is in love. That just proves we can fall in love at any age! She is so laid back and funny it did my heart good to hear the joy in her voice. I really like the old photos of people and found this one at Clearly Vintage. Apparently the photographers told people not to smile or else the session lasted so long they were not smiling by the time the photo was taken! Anyway, I made this into a card for her-I believe she will see the humor in this one.

Halloween kitties

I have made two Halloween kitty cards today. The first is this week's image from Designed 2 Delight. It is such a cute image and very easy to make into a card. I used Spellbinders dies and background paper from TLC Creations.

The second is a new image from Squigglefly.com. I love this type image because it is already shaded and is quite easy to color. The background paper is also from TLC Creations.

Sew Beary Kind

I have had a really busy week at work so it was nice to come home this evening and unwind and make a card for the weekly challenge over at Delightful Inspirations. I used two of the In colors from Stampin Up and some faux dew drops. The embossing folder is one of Tim Holtz.

Cuttlebug Smoosh lady

This is for the Design Junkies challenge this week using the cuttlebug smoosh technique. This is a free digi image, but I don't remember where I got it. I try to be careful to give credit, but this one didn't have a name on it. I used the SU embossing folder and two of the new SU In colors-Peach Parfait and Pear Pizzaz. The ribbon is SU and the brad is from Hobby Lobby!

My mom was right

Yesterday at work I told a coworker that I had forgotten a word for a common object and , of course, she didn't let me forget all evening. Needless to say she is 30 years younger than I am. Her birthday was last week, but I didn't know that so I made her this card and on the inside it says, Now I remember.....Happy belated birthday!

I used SU designer paper, poppy parade and blushing bride cs, SU gingham ribbon,a Spellbinders pendant, my new Paper Studio corner punch and last but not least, a sentiment from TLC. Not a fancy card, but I like making a card around a sentiment only. A little different for me.
